We flew in to Munich on Saturday morning. Our friends Marget and Burkhard picked us up and we stayed south of Munich in a small town (Burggen) until Wednesday afternoon. We took the train to Kitzingen on Wednesday afternoon and were picked up there by other friends – Mary and Charly. We stayed in Buchbrunn for three nights. On Saturday morning we drove to Munich with Marc and stayed in Munich one night (two days) and on Sunday night we took the train from Munich to Stuttgart. Alex met us in the train station. On Monday, we went to a museum north of Stuttgart and then continued on to Sasbachwalden in the Black Forest to the parents of Alex. After dinner on Tuesday we took the train back to Stuttgart where we stayed until we flew home to Atlanta on Saturday morning. Two weeks.
Keep in mind that Germany is roughly the size of Alabama and Georgia combined. Alabama and Georgia each have about 4 million people. There are over 80 million people in Germany. So things are close together. Even though there are many towns that are pretty large – 80 cities with over 100,000 people, there are still many very small villages too. We were in small towns, villages, medium sized towns, and very large towns.
